Become a Volunteer

4 Paws 4 Life Rescue & Boarding is one of the fastest-growing animal rescues in Colorado. We’re more than just a rescue; we’re a vibrant community passionate about animal welfare. Our mission is to give every animal a chance at a loving home, and our volunteers are at the heart of this cause. Become a volunteer and lend a helping hand today!

Examples of Volunteer Tasks:
  • Kennel Maintenance: Ensuring our animals have a clean and comfortable environment by cleaning and sanitizing kennels.
  • Adoption Events: Assisting with setup, interacting with the public, introducing potential adopters to our animals, and ensuring smooth operations during these crucial events.
  • Facility Maintenance and Upgrades: Helping maintain and improve our facility to ensure it’s a safe and welcoming environment for both animals and visitors.
  • Transport Assistance: Helping transport animals to and from the rescue, whether for medical reasons, events, or other needs.
  • Email Communications: Responding on behalf of the rescue to donation inquiries, ensuring timely and professional communication.
  • Animal Playtime and Walks: Engaging in play sessions with our dogs, providing them with the exercise and social interaction they need, and taking them on walks to explore and stretch their legs.
What We're Looking For:
  • Commitment: While experience is a plus, what we value most is dedication. We’re seeking individuals who are truly passionate about animal welfare and are willing to commit their time and energy to our cause.
  • Punctuality: It’s crucial for our operations that volunteers show up on time and are reliable.
  • Flexibility: With a variety of tasks and ever-changing needs, we appreciate volunteers who can adapt and take on different roles as needed.
  • Time Offering: Whether you can offer 5, 10, or 15 hours a week, we value any time you can dedicate to helping our animals and supporting our mission.
  • Team Player: Being able to work harmoniously with other volunteers, staff, and the animals is essential.
  • Training: We ask that all volunteers participate in our required training sessions. These sessions are designed to equip you with the skills and knowledge necessary for success and ensure the safety and well-being of both our volunteers and animals.
Benefits of Volunteering:
  • Gain hands-on experience in animal care and rescue operations.
  • Be a part of a passionate community dedicated to making a difference.
  • Opportunities for growth and involvement in special events and initiatives.
  • The joy of knowing you’re directly impacting the lives of animals in need.

Your dedication and passion can create lasting change here at 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue & Boarding. Come make memories, build connections, and be a part of our mission to transform lives, one animal at a time!

We welcome volunteers aged 15 to 18 to handle dogs, provided they have a completed application on file. However, for volunteers under 18, a guardian must be present when working with animals.

If a minor is interested in tasks such as dishwashing or other non-animal related activities, the presence of a guardian is not required.

All prospective volunteers must fill out the volunteer application, go through online training, and attend one of our volunteer orientations to be fully onboarded as a volunteer.

We typically hold volunteer orientations 1-2x per month at our kennel in Sedalia, where you will get a full tour of our facility as well as more information on our volunteer program as a whole.

We utilize a simple and user-friendly volunteer software where you can sign up for shifts as well as track your hours!
