Volunteer Opportunities for Youth
Did you know that you can help animals no matter how old you are? There are millions of dogs and cats in need of homes all over the U.S., and there are so many volunteer opportunities for youth at 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue.
1. Be a Rescue Pet Champion
A Rescue Pet Champion is someone who supports 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue through online fundraising efforts. Using our toolkit, we’ll help you launch your own campaign online. The fundraising page will be personalized with your own message and we’ll give you all the tools you need to make it a success. At the end of your campaign, we’ll present you with a certificate for your contribution, a ‘Rescue Pet Champion’ t-shirt and a Reference Letter stating your achievements. We’ll take photos with you and your friends or family and introduce you to some of our rescue dogs or cats. They’ll just love being in your photo to say thanks! We’ll share your success in our monthly newsletter and social media too. Email: firstname.lastname@example.org to get started.
2. Be a Foster Family Member
Ask your parents to help you foster a homeless dog or cat. There are so many animals in need of a safe temporary place to hang out while they recover from an illness or injury, and some puppies and kittens need a quiet place to grow, away from the busy animal shelter. Some of our bigger dogs have been here a long time and need a break from their kennel. If you can commit your time and resources to fostering an animal, you’ll be helping two animals—the one you take into your home and another one who will get a place in the shelter.
It can be hard to say goodbye to an animal you’ve been fostering once they’re adopted into a permanent home and no longer need you to take care of them. But the good news is that because of you, an animal got a second chance at life in a loving home, and that’s pretty awesome! Fostering an animal is a big commitment, so you’ll need to ask your parents to help while you’re at school. Ask your parents to complete an application here and send us an email to let us know about your application (email@example.com).
3. Join our Social Media 30-day Challenge
Using one of our social media outlets (Instagram, Facebook or Twitter), share our daily posts with your network to increase visibility of our organization and the animals in our care. This will help increase adoptions too! All you have to do is share, tag us and encourage your friends to share too! If you complete the challenge, we’ll send you a certificate outlining your contribution by mail.
4. Host a Donation Drive at Your School
Ask your teacher or school principal if you can lead a donation drive at your school for our animal shelter. You and your parents can write a letter telling your school officials how you plan on doing it and why it’s important to collect items that animals in shelters need, like food, blankets and cleaning supplies. You can encourage students to bring in these goods on a specific day and by having a friendly competition by class. The class that collects the most items can win a prize. Ask your local pizzeria if they’ll donate pizzas for the winning class. You can ask your classmates and their friends and family to donate. And get a group of your own friends together to make colorful posters so you can spread the word about the donation drive around the school. Let us know about your drive by emailing us at firstname.lastname@example.org. We can support you in many ways.
5. Plan a Free Car Wash Fundraiser
Raise 10X more with a FREE CAR WASH instead of a traditional one. Here’s how. Instead of charging each car a fee, your group of volunteers solicit pledges of fifty cents or a dollar per washed car.
Let’s say that 20 volunteers get ten pledges each and average only fifty cents per car. So, after 30 cars are washed, each volunteer collects $150.00 ($15/sponsor x 10 sponsors). Those twenty volunteers combined have now made $3,000.00! ($150/worker x 20 workers). Imagine how much more your fundraising group would make if you washed more cars or charged more per pledge.
And it gets better. In addition to the money your group makes from pledges, you can tell each customer about your fundraiser and ask for donations using donation jars. Most people will contribute something out of a sense of obligation since they’re getting their cars washed for free.
And, there’s more… On top of the pledges and donations, you can still get sponsors to provide the supplies or the signs, as you would with a regular car wash fundraiser. And, of course, you can still sell water and snacks too. Use social media to promote your event and ask your parents to do the same.
At the end of your fundraiser, we’ll present each volunteer with a certificate for your contribution and a Reference Letter stating your achievements. We’ll take photos with your group and introduce you to some of our rescue dogs or cats. They’ll just love being in your photo to say thanks! We’ll share your success in our monthly newsletter and social media too. Email: email@example.com to let us know about your car wash fundraiser so we can help.
6. Have Your Birthday Party Benefit Our Animals
You can ask friends and family to donate items on our wish list in place of birthday gifts or ask them to make a cash donation to raise funds. We’ll schedule a time to receive the items at our facility and present you with a certificate for your contribution and efforts and a Reference Letter stating your achievements. We’ll take photos with you and your friends and family and introduce you to some of our rescue dogs or cats. They’ll just love being in your photo to say thanks! We’ll share your success in our monthly newsletter and social media too. See items listed below and email: firstname.lastname@example.org to let us know about it.
7. Feature 4 Paws 4 Life Rescue for your next school project or essay.
