Happy Single's Awareness Day from Miss Maryland! Not all dogs love other dogs, and that's ok 🥰 Maryland would love to find a home where she can be the only animal. She is timid at first but loves people and warms up quickly. If you give her a toy or ball, she will play all day! She also knows basic commands.

Maryland has been stuck in our kennel for quite a while because nearly all of our foster families have other pets. With time and proper training, she may be able to be around some other dogs. Can you give Maryland a home where she will thrive? If not, do you know someone with no pets that can foster this wonderful lady until she finds the right family?

Happy Valentine's Day from Quinton, a beautiful 2

Happy Valentine's Day from Quinton, a beautiful 2 year old collie mix looking for his forever home! Quinton was a stray on the streets of south Texas when he was attacked by a pack of dogs. He was picked up by animal control who took him to a local shelter where his wounds were treated. He made his way up to Colorado and has been waiting for his family to find him!

He takes treats gently and is very food motivated. He doesn't show much interest in other dogs. He prefers the company of females...we suspect a traumatic past with males. A proper introduction would be an absolute must if you have other dogs in the home. We do not know how Quinton is with cats. He does very well with kids and loves people.

Will you be Tammy's Valentine? Tammy became a mom

Will you be Tammy's Valentine? Tammy became a mom of 7 at the age of 1. She herself is still very much a puppy, yet she did a great job raising her babies. She is goofy, loves other dogs, and enjoys walks and playing in the backyard. She is potty trained, but she will need a yard with a 6 foot fence.

Tammy was previously adopted and recently returned because her adopter was gone long hours and Tammy was developing separation anxiety. Tammy would do best with someone who is home often, or someone who is willing to devote time and energy to training her around the separation anxiety. She has not done well in the crate, and has gotten into trouble eating things she shouldn't when no one is home. She has had foreign body surgery to remove items from her stomach.

She is an extremely sweet girl who needs a little extra help! She is heartworm positive, but we cover the entire cost of her treatment.

Can you help us find a forever Valentine for this sweet, goofy girl? We will provide as many resources as we can for her future adopter.

Happy Early Valentine's Day from Bullet, a beautiful coonhound mix looking for her forever home! If you are looking for a sweet and easy-going Valentine, look no further. Bullet does well with other dogs, loves kids, knows commands, and will never deny butt scratches.

Bullet was picked up as a stray in Oklahoma, and after 5 weeks sitting in a shelter, made her way to Colorado to ~finally~ find a family of her own. She is gentle and mild mannered, but she is also a hound mix and sometimes needs to make her voice heard. With that being said, Bullet would do better in a single family home as opposed to an apartment setting! She is not a super active girl, but would love to be your companion for the rest of her days.

Adoption Success! Do you remember MamaBear, the beautiful German Shepherd we shared several weeks back? This is one of her puppies, Osa (now Finn)! Finn came to Colorado with his mom and 9 siblings (yes, 9!) back in September 2022 when he was just a few weeks old after being born in a Texas shelter. He grew to be a wonderful puppy, and was adopted in early January 2023.

His adopter says, "We just wanted to say thank you so much again for allowing us to bring Osa (now Finn) into our family. He’s been the most perfect fit and we absolutely love him. We appreciate all you’ve done!"

We are so glad Finn is fitting in to the pack! Thank you for adopting!

Adoption Success! Mochi and her brother, Kimchi, were rescued from a puppy mill in September 2022. She was adopted by her family and renamed Maple. Maple is totally spoiled by her parents and having so much fun exploring nature and playing with her dog friends!

Her adopter says, "Ms. Maple Lee- she weaseled into our hearts without even trying. She is full of Shiba attitude- from airplane ears to extreme defiance. She brings us so much joy, as there are really no dull moments with her. Each day we learn something new- like how she hates puddles and will leap over them or how she will tolerate baths as long as peanut butter joins the party. She’s helped us grieve the loss of our former dog tremendously. We are proud to call her ours."

Adoption Success! The first sentence of Anchor's bio said, "He's a sad puppy that doesn't know how to 'puppy.'" Poor guy! He didn't want to come out of his crate and was very timid. He had come to us from a very overcrowded Texas shelter in November 2022.

He went to his new home in January, and they sent us an update. Seems like the timid puppy is now living his best life 🥰 Thank you for adopting Anchor! You got to completely change a dog's life by adopting him, and that is no small thing. ❤

Let's not forget Mama Tina, who did a great job raising her babies. It is evident she has had a rough life and been met with an unkind hand, but is still the sweetest and most gentle girl. Meet Rotor, the most handsome guy on the planet! R

Meet Rotor, the most handsome guy on the planet! Rotor is new to our rescue and looking for his forever family. He was rescued from an overcrowded shelter in Texas, where they euthanize for space daily.

Rotor is a very special dude. He's playful and a massive cuddler. He loves being squished and held like a baby (despite being 72 lbs) and he grunts with happiness until he falls asleep. He is very gentle and has been great with kids and other dogs. Not only does he listen to basic commands, but he does well in the car and walks well on a leash. He seems to be potty trained and hardly barks.

This guy is a velcro dog and can be a bit clumsy. He’s still figuring things out around the house and needs help understanding what is a toy and what is not (but he listens and learns quickly). He loves toys, but shows no toy or food aggression. He can entertain himself and be a perfect single dog and is also perfectly happy to be with another dog. He has energy and loves to play while in the room with loved ones until he tires himself out.

He has a funny personality and talks back when he wants some attention. Overall, Rotor is a very easy, mellow guy who just wants to play and be loved on. He’s also a big flirt (he has those big brown eyes), and HAS to greet everyone he meets with a big smile and wag of his tail. He’s gorgeous and deserves to be treated like the star he is!

Mimi is *still* looking for a forever home! She's been to event after event, we featured her once already, and we simply do not get it!

Mimi's foster mom says she is a VERY sweet and smart girl who wags nonstop and loves cuddles (so don't let her serious expression fool you!) She had a rough life before she and her puppies were saved and came to Colorado, but she's so thankful to be out of danger.

This girl gets along great with her four-legged foster siblings, though she's still learning how to be a dog and play with them. She walks well on leash and is potty trained. Mimi sleeps through the night in her kennel without a peep. She takes treats gently and loves playing with squeaky tennis balls.

Mimi was adopted once and returned; we were told she was resource guarding. Her foster mom has been testing this out nearly every day with her own dogs, and hasn't seen any evidence of this. It would be best to take precautions when Mimi first gets to your home, just in case. If she does exhibit any resource guarding, it can be worked through!

Mimi is such a wonderful girl. Our staff, volunteers, and fosters all adore her, and we can't wait to see her flourish in her forever home.

Adoption Success! Back in June of 2022, we took in Mr Heckles and his 5 siblings from the Best Friends Animal Sanctuary. They were 3 months old at the time, and were all quickly adopted.

Mr Heckles (now Maverick) scored big time! His mom owns a local dog treat food truck called Bone Apétreat. He's being a great little helper to her in this picture 🐶 We'll be doing an event with Bone Apétreat at the end of March, so stay tuned!

Maverick's mom says he is the biggest ball of love and that she couldn't have asked for a better dog! ❤

Adoption Success! Mila came to us back in December

Adoption Success! Mila came to us back in December 2022 with her mom and 6 siblings. They were rescued from a high kill shelter in Texas that is extremely overcrowded.

Mila was adopted and renamed Willow. Willow's mom says, "I adopted Mila, who is now Willow, and she’s doing amazing. I absolutely love her. She’s so funny and loves to explore and play with her toys. When she’s finished playing she curls right up and falls asleep on you. She’s the most cuddly pup and has been such a great addition!!"

Tonight we want to give a very special shout out to our kennel manager, Bailee (pictured here with Mr. Hank, who got a much needed trim and is available for adoption)!

Bailee has worked at our kennel since 2009 - when it used to be owned by someone else and 4 Paws 4 Life didn't exist yet. She knows our facility better than anyone! Her dedication to our animals is really astounding; she is the glue that holds our kennel together.

She stays late and comes in on her days off to tend to sick animals. She cares for dogs, cats, goats, pigs, a horse, and a llama. One time we were all stuck in a horrible hailstorm/lightning storm at our facility, and Bailee ran straight into the storm to make sure the farm animals were safe and sheltered.

If you've ever boarded your dogs with us, you've likely met Bailee! She and the rest of our staff take great care of your animals when you are out of town. Not only that, but she also fosters for our rescue and has cared for multiple pets with special needs.

Thank you, Bailee, for all that you do! We appreciate you so much.

Billie Holiday is no good without a family! She is a miniature Schnauzer estimated to be about 8 years old. Life was not kind to her at the puppy mill, but luckily she was rescued from that environment in early January. She's timid, still working on potty training, and just had 37 (yes, 37) teeth pulled, but she is sweet as can be and would love nothing more than a cozy space with a family that will be gentle with her.

Notes from her foster: "She seems to prefer being with other dogs and occasionally barks at the cats. She loves to eat scrambled egg and soft foods. She loves sleeping in bed with her humans. It's when she truly relaxes. She is more leery of men and would not do well with young children. She had a lot of teeth pulled and now her tongue is always out. When we get home from work she does a happy dance, it's adorable! She is very timid and will need lots of patience in her new home, but she is ready to love and be loved."
